Eating at Chili's with their allergen-evaluated menu.

It is always nice when a restaurant accommodates me as a person with a food allergy. It is even better when they have their menu evaluated to make ordering easier.

Chili's has done just that!

Chili's Restaurant is a family oriented chain that has a comfortable, festive feel. They are located all across the country. They are known best for their Baby Back Ribs.

Allergen Evaluated Menu

On their website they have posted allergen evaluated menus for eight of the most common food allergens. They are in PDF format for easy printing, or do what I do and ask them to print one for you when you get there.

Tip: If a restaurant has an allergen evaluated menu, do not print it before you go. Ask your server for one. It puts everyone on high alert for you.

Tasty food, Slightly outdated menu?

Most of the menus have plenty of selections. I have a gluten intolerance so I ordered the Margarita Chicken off the gluten and wheat allergen menu. It had a very nice flavor. The chicken was covered with a tomato-y pico de gallo salsa. It also came with two sides, I ordered corn on the cob and rice pilaf. The corn was sweet, and the pilaf was yummy too. I also asked for the Baked Potato soup but, the server said that they haven't had it there in a long time.

My son ordered the Mushroom burger, no bun. They accidentally served it with French fries, a gluten contaminated side. We had to send it back. In the end my son thought the food was great.

We also had the Chocolate Shake with sprinkles for dessert. It was rich and thick. It was almost worth going there just for that.

Tip: Remember what you ordered and double check that your food was prepared carefully avoiding your allergen. Don't feel bad if you have to send it back, just be nice about it.

Chili's Restaurant is a great place to try if you have a food allergy. With their allergen evaluated menus, you will feel safer eating out. Check them out at www.chilis.com.
