NAET, an alternative method to allergies. This can be used on people with any type of allergy and is safe, non invasive and effective.

For many allergy sufferers, shots are not an option, or maybe not a preference. Shots can be painful, time consuming and lengthy. For sufferers of food allergies, shots are not available at this time, so many believe avoidance is the only alternative. However, there is a holistic alternative which can provide relief of the symptoms as well as cure the allergy altogether.

This practice is called NAET (Nambudripad's Allergy Elimination Technique) and it involves one or a combination of acupressure and/or acupuncture while using a clearing method of the allergy, along with allopathy, chiropractic, nutritional, and kinesiological techniques.

Depending on the severity of the allergy, it may take anywhere from 5 – 20 office visits to clear the patient of the allergen. This is a viable alternative for allergy sufferers who cannot avoid the allergen (pollen, smoke, etc.) or for people with allergies that have no possibility of shots (peanuts, tree nuts, milk, etc.). Once the allergy is cleared from the body, the patient will always be safe from it.

Most NAET experts are holistic/ alternative practitioners.NAET was developed by Dr. Devi S. Nambudripad, a doctor who suffered from many allergies herself. She developed this technique in 1983 in California and since has trained 1000’s of practitioners across the United States.

One argument against NAET is that it is difficult to test for effectiveness in a concrete way. The practitioner can test using muscle strength while using acupressure or in other ways, but for those with a more clinical mindset, it may be hard to accept. A scratch test can be repeated by an allergist; however, the allergen still may test positive on a scratch test, especially for the first six months after NAET.

The effectiveness of NAET can be tested by the practitioner. For example, if used for food, the patient can test in small increments and then perhaps try ingesting the food at some point. For instance, with a nut allergy, after clearing the allergy completely, some nut oil may be rubbed on the body, perhaps on the knee and then moved closer to the mouth as comfort allows. At some point the patient may wish to ingest the allergen in the presence of the practitioner.

Some people may be wary of trying an alternative method to such a frightening problem, but most who have done it believe it worth it. After all, it is painless and noninvasive, unlike shots and it can safely take the fear of a food allergy away, along with the allergy.
